Lowcountry Roads

Edisto Island, SC

If I was an artist, this is what I would paint. Since I am not, I asked my patient driver to stop in the middle of the road and let me out for a moment. I love these lowcountry roads.

I love those roads too. Thanks so much for a peek this morning!

The question in my mind always is, "to paint or to draw those oaks? Which would better capture their sinewy beauty?" And sometimes I think the answer is, "a photo." You are an artist too!

This surely is a good painting subject. The robust trees and the verdant foliage make a good landscape painting. You captured it very well by the way.:)

Oaks hanging over the road like that are magic. I use to commute from Folley Beach to Seabrook (before the roads were widened). I am not sure if I would have put up with the long drive if it wasn't for the oaks and marshes to look at.

Julia - you posted one similar to this from your folks place I think. Hwy 61, Wadmalaw, Leadenwah, Johns Island....they all have beautiful stretches.

Bjornik! How nice to hear from you! I am such an admirer of your work.

Les - Yes, the road to Seabrook is another beautiful stretch. Your garden looks beautiful right now. I enjoyed your photos this morning.

Beautiful during the day but perhaps terrifying on a dark night!

Beautiful photo - and hush, you ARE an artist! This photo would look wonderful as the background on a computer desktop (it reminds me of the fall scene that comes with Windows).

Of course, it would look even more wonderful printed out, matted, and framed.
