Johns Island walking

Johns Island, SC
I was invited to walk on Johns Island this morning but we spent a lovely time watching the rain form the veranda of a tiny lowcountry cottage. The showers have been so spotty lately, I came home and watered my plants this evening. What a beautiful piece of heaven this property it. I felt very fortunate.

Bull St. townhouses

Bull St., Charleston, SC
This stretch of tall town homes on Bull St. always look more like Savannah than Charleston to me. They are lovely. This rental ad might not stay current for long but at the moment gives a glimpse inside one of the units at 109 Bull St.

I had been biding my time until it had cooled off enough to go for my evening walk. It's 9:30 now and I just got back. I didn't quite make my 10,000 steps. 9,480 will have to do this evening.

Colonial Lake blossoms

Colonial Lake, Charleston, SC
The Parks Conservancy Park Angels have done a wonderful job with the flower beds and maintenance at Colonial Lake. It is a treat to see what is in bloom every time I go by.

It's pretty hot out there! I had to wait almost until dark to go for my walk. But I did. Drip, drip.

Newborn Photography

What a sweetie. I was closing my back gate preparing to leave when I spotted this little fella, fresh newborn finding his way around my little lime tree. I wish I'd had a close up lens and tripod but did the best I could to follow him as he explored his new world.

Busy week!

SCRUBS Camp 2019
I've been on the run this week coordinating the hospital based SCRUBS health career summer camp. What a great group of teenagers! It makes me feel good about the future of healthcare and reassured that there will be good people in place to take care of me when I need it. So many of my co-workers took time from busy schedules to share their knowledge. We made the Post & Courier this morning and ABC 4 last night. Thanks team!

Magnolia Plantation walking

Magnolia Plantation Gardens, Charleston, SC
I had a long time online blogging/social media friend Maggie visit Charleston this week from Australia. Naturally we went walking at Magnolia Plantation, through the garden and the swamp. She almost took a detour tripping over a young alligator on the path but all is well! It's one of my favorite places in the world and I am always happy to show it off.

St. Julien Peaches

St. Julien Plantation Farm Stand, Eutawville, SC
I wait for this farm stand to come to life every year and it never disappoints! Eutawville peaches are famous for their deliciousness and the silver queen corn and fresh tomatoes are a treat.

I spent all Friday at a meeting on the site of our new hospital in Berkeley county and decided to just stay on the road and head for the lake for the night. This was a happy basket of fresh garden treats to bring home. I think I have a little cream in the refrigerator for one of those peaches!

Art in the park - West Ashley Greenway

West Ashley Greenway, Charleston, SC
I have been eagerly awaiting planned improvements to the West Ashley Greenway and Bikeway. I'd heard that a new site specific scuplture had been installed and made a point to walk down to see it. It is odd looking - tanks joined together but the opening invites you climb in and look up to see the colorful view. More to come I hope!
