Firefly Distillery visit

Firefly Distillery, Wadmalaw Island, SC
My son took me on a post birthday jaunt to the Firefly Distillery on Wadmalaw Island this morning where  the Cork Shucking Festival was a benefit for Windwood Farms. They had buckets of oysters, live music under the oaks and a tasting room for the locally distilled Firefly vodka. There were some interesting and unusual flavors!
Firefly Distillery, Wadmalaw Island, SC   The Firefly Distillery is the birthplace of Firefly Spirits. It is where the founders, Jim Irvin and Scott Newitt, came up with the crazy idea to build a distillery in the ‘middle of nowhere,’ and make the world’s first Sweet Tea Vodka. That crazy idea is now a destination known for its genuine southern hospitality, fine quality spirits and innovation. The Firefly Distillery is located on Wadmalaw Island, just 30 minutes outside of Charleston, SC. At the distillery, you will meet the ‘Firefly family’ and you can sample an array of fine spirits and get a taste of their southern hospitality at its best.

Waterfront Mural

Cherry Point Seafood, Wadmalaw, SC
This evening's pictures are of Cherry Point Seafood dock from a recent drive to Wadmalaw Island. There wasn't much action while we were there but this is what the Charleston City Paper has to say:

People from Kiawah, Johns Island, and Seabrook flock to the Cherry Point Seafood dock to watch ships unload hundreds of pounds of shrimp, tuna, mahi, swordfish, and redfish. The packing house staff ices freshly caught seafood, packages it, and sends it around the world. Customers buy product directly off the boat at the retail store in Wadmalaw, and whatever isn’t sold to locals and restaurants like Rosebank Farms Café and the Fat Hen gets shipped as far away as Japan. Cherry Point Seafood has been in business since 1933, and current owner Micah LaRoche inherited the operation from his father. Local Rockville fishermen supply Cherry Point with all the fish and shrimp they sell. Cherry Point also carries wreckfish, tasty bottom feeders that are difficult to catch but worth the trouble.
In the bottom image, it appears my ship finally came in and it ain't good news.

Rustic lunch spot

P.M. King's Grocery, Wadmalaw Island, SC
This looks like a rustic lunch spot. I've never been in the area on Wadmalaw Island when it has been open. The signs look relatively freshly added so it appears to be active. Has anyone eaten there?

I hosted dinner this evening for a group of friends in honor of my friend Rosie's visiting twin sister. Twins are endlessly amazing, aren't they? These two have the same laugh and sense of humor and she is just as delightful as her sister. Bonus!
