My last night as a music promoter

Richard Larson, Charleston, S.C.
Sigh...my short lived career as a music promoter came to an end. This was fun! I lined up musically talented co-workers to play at the Gathering Cafe West Ashley as a Lowcountry Heart Walk benefit. 5 - 7 p.m. is earlier than most places host live music but for a day shift healthcare crowd it was just perfect. What a treat to stop for a tasty bite to eat with a room full of friends and enjoy live music.

Thanks to everyone who entertained us this week, the Cafe for hosting and donating a percentage to the Heart Association and everyone who came out to listen to the music. I clearly hang out with some talented folks!

My new career as a music promoter

Ohvalentino at The Gathering Cafe, Charleston, S.C.
I feel like a music promoter! This is a whole new thing for me. I lined up friends to perform at the Gathering Cafe since Chef Nathan Conkle offered to give 5% to my Lowcountry Heart Walk team. I am not very musically inclined so it is all magic to me. My friend Mark Dickson sang last night and this evening a husband and wife team called ohvalentino performed. They were great! We had a full house and almost everyone was there because I promoted it. Made me very happy, I tell ya.

I have one more evening to showcase the musical talents of my friends. Tomorrow night Richard Larson and Raymond Santiago will be performing between 5 - 7 p.m. Come on by for an after-work bite to eat. They both work in Information Services at the hospital. I can't wait to hear them. Then I go back to my regular life. This brief stint as a music promoter has been fun. Thanks for everyone's support!

Hint, hint - tips for a cause!

Tasty food for a hearty cause

The Gathering Cafe, Charleston, S.C.
Chef Nathan Conkle at the Gathering Cafe offered to donate 5% of his proceeds this week to the American Heart Association. Cool match since he cooks healthy delicious food. I roped in some of my friends from the hospital to entertain and stopped by this evening for an early bite on the way home.

I'm not done yet - my friend Mark Dickson is singing and playing Tuesday, Aaron O'Brien on Wednesday and Richard Larson and Raymond Santiago on Thursday. Healthcare workers singing for healthy hearts. It all makes sense! The music will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Stop by if you can.

The Gathering Cafe

Carrot Cake, The Gathering Cafe, Charleston, S.C.

I met with friends to try a new West Ashley restaurant this evening - The Gathering Cafe at Orange Grove and Sam Rittenburg. Now that I live West Ashley I am tickled to hear of tasty new places close to me with great food and plenty of parking. Thanks to my friends Kathy and Leah for the suggestion. From top to bottom although not in that order, we enjoyed the carrot cake, meatloaf, salmon, pork loin (mine) and a visit from chef/owner Nathan Conkle.

I notice that their web site offers printable coupons for a free dessert and glass of wine until 12/15. Go for it!
