Crepe Myrtle Season
Crepe Myrtle, Charleston, S.C.
Charleston's colorful summer gift - Crepe Myrtles trees. They have a distinctive smooth bare trunk. When I was teaching my kids the names of trees I would always say, "Myrtle! Get some clothes on!"

Kate, they are usually Charleston Green - almost black but with some green in them. Not sure I can include a link here:

I hear tell they've started a breed of Crepe Myrtle that will survive the winters above the Mason-Dixon line. Lawdy! I'd sho like to have one.

I tried the link but it didn't work. You told me about "Charleston Green" when we visited last April, but I still see only black!

Try cutting and pasting that link. It might work easier. The paint recipe is black, green, yellow but you are correct. primarily black.
