This scene was taken a few years ago at Marion Square but worth reposting.
A commenter on Facebook this morning said something that felt very meaningful. He wrote, "I always try to make sure I act in such a way to make those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice proud. No one should lay down their life for me in vain." Amen.

Excellent comment. More of us should act that way.
These freedoms we enjoy don't just happen. It takes a tremendous, sometimes ultimate sacrifice, for us to live like we do. Unfortunately we'll never to able to tell those who sacrificed so much, at least in this world, THANK YOU.

The symbol of our flag is appropriate for today; it generates strong patriotic feelings.
Thanks folks! I remember the day like it was yesterday. Each flag represented a soldier. They asked me if I wanted to place one and it was so unexpected that it was quite emotional.
Stirring image! Reminds of the lines "....And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave......."
These lines,are supposed to be from the poem "The Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key.
