Medal of Honor parade

Charleston, S.C.

The Medal of Honor Society Convention runs today through Saturday and the public was invited to line the streets along the Battery and honor the recipients by cheering and waving flags.

Sadly it rained continuously and not many of us stuck it out. Those who did energetically waved damp flags as our heroes went by on their white trolleys. Hopefully the rest of their activities will go as planned. It is an honor to have them here.

I felt the same when the surviving Dolittle Raiders had a convention here in Columbia back in 2002. Got to shake hands with one of those guys.

Be on the alert, Miss Wiggles and I are heading down to Charleston again Sunday, just going to walk the streets and see where the urge takes us. So if you see a tall goofy guy and his very cute eight year-old Chinese daughter it us.

Awwww...Beach Bum - I will miss you again. I am heading to St. Louis in the morning for my national conference. I'll get in late afternoon on Sunday. Enjoy yourselves.

Oh, I am sorry that the greeting time was rained out. That was so sweet of you to stay out there and show them some Charleston love. - Rachel

You know what, I can't believe that a little rain - or even a lot of rain - kept people from honoring folks that went through so much more difficult times for this country.

Rain? Pah. I'd have been out there, soggy flag waving. I guess marrying a soldier puts a little hair on one's chest.
