Before & After - Smith St.

192 Smith St., Charleston, S.C.

Once again I was not consulted about the renovations planned for this quirky property on upper Smith St. They have painted over the historically accurate (drug induced?) checkerboard porch ceiling. Happily they left the funky guard lions at the front door. Here is the real estate web site. I am sure they have done a fine job but I do wish I knew what it used to look like inside, don't you?

What an amazing transformation. I love old homes.

Nicely done, although I would have kept the checkerboard, but I'm a cultural infidel.

Quite the change, but I would of kept the sidewalk plants.

I would have kept the my-ladder-is-too-short topiary out front.

Yes, but now the porch ceilings are a nice hurricane/haint-protection blue!
