Summer wreath

Pitt St., Charleston, SC
It works for all seasons really. A used tire with worn white paint and Christmas lights. Festive!

Those aren't gifts in the bag

Pitt St., Charleston, SC
This is one of those common Charleston scenes that make me smile - a Citadel cadet on the weekend with a bag of laundry.

One last day in August to get everything done before the end of the month. How did that happen?

Edit: Ooops, The problem with setting a blog to post ahead of time means it has nothing to do with what has happened since. These streets are probably still waterlogged. I took the photo yesterday and since then we have had up to 10 inches of rain in some areas. I lollygagged this morning and went in an hour late to escape the worst of the street flooding but it has been a mess.

Church Photo in Lieu of Attendance - Pitt St. Sweets

Pitt St., Charleston, S.C.

Pitt Street Sweets.

This is a private residence now, but years ago it was a church and after that belonged to the Association for the Blind. When it belonged to the Association for the Blind they had a sign saying "Scented Garden" and I would close my eyes and inhale deeply breathing in the sweet fragrance when I walked by.
41 Pitt St. -- Association for the Blind -- This building, formerly occupied by Plymouth Congregational Church, was purchased and re adapted for use by the Charleston County Association for the Blind, in 1957. The former churchyard has been landscaped as a fragrance garden for the blind.
More info about the transformation into a private residence here. Now I really want to see inside.

You could say we have beer in our blood....

Pitt St., Charleston, S.C.

"You could say we have beer in our blood and most days you'd be right...."

These students put quite a bit of effort into decorating their beer cooler.
