James Brown statue, Augusta, Georgia |
By the next day everyone roaming and shopping were fellow east coast strays comparing notes and fears. I suggested that the antique store post a Welcome Refugee sign. My son got some work done and I listened in on periodic team meetings from home and in between we wandered the downtown, took the canal boat ride and caught a few movies. Thanks for the welcome Augusta.

Sounds like a rather pleasant enforced mini-vacation.
Now what's that darned horse doing up on that balcony? And more important, how did he get there?
I see the love lock tradition is there as well.
The dog's a cutie!
May we display your header on our new site directory? As it is now, the site title (linked back to your home page) is listed, and we think displaying the header will attract more attention. In any event, we hope you will come by and see what is going on at SiteHoundSniffs.com.
It was! It is such a stressful time. I kept wanting to shop and then it dawned on me that I might not even have a home to go home to and put my wallet away.
Remember the cow invasion years ago? Some cities had cows, turtles, mermaids and horses. I was once in Aiken, SC and there were horse statues painted by local artists. This looks like one of those. I have no idea who they got it up there but I bet I am not the only one who has taken a picture of it.
I think the locks have become a problem and have weighed down bridges enough that they had to cut them off. It is better when they are on a frame specially designed for the purpose. Still fun to see.
