The scent of jasmine fills the Charleston air. It might be reasonable to fine those of us who don't have any blooming. It could be a simple check box on our tax return. Do you have jasmine in your yard? No? Bingo, pay an extra $5 to penalize you for not participating in the glory of the season.

What a lovely blossom! The gate and archway would be a great setting for a wedding.
And shame on my for not remembering that is was Confederate Jasmine last weekend as my young family marveled at its presence and fragrance ALL over Charleston. Thank you! DUH. Swoooooon.
Oh, Joan... you've hit my achilles heel! I have wanted, and tried to have, jasmine in my garden for AGES. It just won't grow! I would gladly pay (and have paid) the $5 fee, if it would mean jasmine would grow for me. I tried regular jasmine at first, then realized Long Island winters are just too much for it - then I sought out Confederate jasmine, which is supposed to be the hardiest. So far, no dice. If there is some magical strain of jasmine that will live on Long Island, I wish someone would point me in the right direction, because I would LOVE to have some!

I remember having a jasmine vine when we lived in Phoenix. The fragrance is amazing.
