Need something to read?

Window Books, Hollywood, S.C.

I lightened my load and got rid of so many things when I moved downsizing to a smaller house last year. The only thing I have caught myself regretting has been that I gave away so many of my books. I had boxes of books that had been in my attic since my move before that - over twenty years earlier. I gave away all of my recipe books now that I google all recipes. If the internet is down, I am completely helpless and unable to make a meal.

I spotted this window full of books in Hollywood, S.C. in Robert Sarvo's Antique Store. Maybe I should buy a few.

my books are taking over the house...think I need to jettison a few but they are all my darlings. However my other darlings are starting to complain. Don't want to end up on Hoarders, sigh.

I wonder if any of the books you got rid of are in there. Recently, I saw a copy of a book that I had as a kid and I opened it up to see if it was mine. I always wrote my name in them.

For the most part it feels very freeing to have cleared out so much. Truthfully I do most of my reading on my tablet now anyway but I do love having books around.

I have a blank wall....I like the minimalist feel but could put bookshelves there.

That is full circle. I went back to the library I spent so much time in as a kid recently. They still had library cards with names on them. I peaked in a few to see if I could spot my name.

Wow! Can I empathize here. My wife recently talked me into an.. ereader after a 50 year long love affair with the written *on paper* word. While I did acclimate to the reader fairly fast, my agreement in giving up the shelves upon shelves of books I had previously was dependent solely on my continued ability to browse any and all traditional book stores I came across. When I checked this location, I noticed that it was actually in the direct path we take each summer on our way to visit our favorite resorts in North Myrtle Beach. I can't wait to browse around in there and perhaps share with the shop owner how I came to be there. And I can't leave here without saying how great of a picture this is. It is actually soothing to my book loving soul! Thanks for a blog that gained me another trip to a beloved shrine for books!
