Teeny Tiny Houses of Charleston

Charleston, S.C.
I love these little tiny houses in Charleston. Some of them hardly seem wide enough for a tall person to stretch out. Many of them were carriage or kitchen houses for the main building on the property. This brick one is a sweetie.

This link is a bit dated but leads to the contest winners for decorating small spaces on the Apartment Therapy site: Small, cool.

This link leads to an blog entry titled: Ode to our teeny, tiny apartment about living in a wee apartment in Charleston.

Meanwhile I am in the mood to get rid of things that I haven't used for years. I burned up a shredder motor last night tearing my past into thin strips of paper. Soon everything I have left will fit in a shoe box.

This is a cool little house. We stayed in an historic 100-year-old house in Savannah on our way up here, with a loft ladder that was quite a challenge for us, but we made it up every night. There comes a time, tho, when charm gives way to comfort and practicality.

I love those links you added today, especially the first one. Downsizing isn't easy; we, too, shredded a few weeks ago and got many, many brown paper bags full of scraps. Took a long time, too. It's a daunting task to rid oneself of years of collecting "stuff."

That isn't on my regular walking route. I need to get there and get a photo. Thanks for the reminder of exactly where it is.

Kate - Your Savannah house was adorable! See you tomorrow.

This post is right up my alley, considering how I've been in "downsize mode" for several years now. And loving it, I might add. :)

lowandslow - exactly! You are my role model. I'm working on it. Looks like my house is going to sell and I've been living in it for over twenty years. Yikes.

So, maybe a couple of shoe boxes. When I moved to the states I had one suitcase and one cardboard box. That was all I owned.

Can't wait! We are going to walk down to the Farmer's Market.

I've featured quite a few of them but I guess I didn't tag them as such. I will redo some of my favorites. We have some sweeties.
