Mayor Riley & Friends

Mayor Riley & Friends, Charleston, S.C.

I walked to Harris Teeter this morning to buy emergency staples - tea and eggs (Cadbury) and ran in to Mayor Riley with a couple of city council members on the grounds of Gaillard Auditorium. It's a lovely day and everyone seemed cheerful and festively dressed.

Correction:  Apparently they are mascots celebrating at a kid's festival on the grounds of Gaillard Auditorium.

I thought the campaign was over and he won.

So glad you have a correct definition of "emergency supplies." Chocolate is always on my list, too. I have no idea why people go for bread, milk, and toilet paper. Chocolate, wine, pizza, chips, etc. seem so much more fitting for any kind of emergency.

Looks like the mascots are enjoyed by both young and old.

after a wonderful visit to your charming city i know exactly where the auditorium is. i hoped we might meet by chance. we walked so many miles in and out of streets and alleyways but alas our paths never crossed.

brattcat - Oh my! You've come and gone already? Did you have a wonderful time? I hope so! What did you do? What did you enjoy?!

we had such a wonderful time. you can see shots this week if you visit my blog. what we loved most was walking, walking, walking and eating, eating, eating. it turns out i'm a huge fan of low-country cuisine. we managed to meet doug hickok of hue and eye and his wonderful wife becky. they led us up and down hidden alleyways we might never have discovered ourselves. one afternoon i simply sat on a bench on the college of charleston campus and soaked in the sunlight under the spanish-moss draped trees. charleston is indeed one of the most charming cities one could ever visit.
