Video camera envy

Queen St., Charleston, S.C.

Queen St. is one of the prettiest streets in Charleston in my opinion. There is always some sweet new/old feature to notice and I never tire of walking it.
________

Last year when I went to Kenya I bought a video camera. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and seemed the right thing to splurge on. It was compact and handy and even though I wasn't used to using it I took some very effective film that was included in a documentary video of the trip.

When I came back I was having work done in my home with people I didn't know coming and going while I was at work. I scrambled around tucking away the small tempting easy to take items like my ipod, camera lens and the video camera. I am ashamed to say that I haven't laid eyes on the video camera since then. Aaaaargh. I am an idiot. I've hidden a brand new camera from myself for over six months. I can't buy a new one because I don't deserve it.

Someday when all it's features are completely out of date, I'll find it tucked behind a book or in a scarf drawer but I'll be damned if I have any idea where it is. Did I mention "Aaaaaaargh!" I wanna, I wanna, I wanna video camera.

One of my ex-wives used to say "You haven't looked everywhere if you haven't found it."

I think I filed for divorce on St. Valentine's Day.

You crack me up! Being happily divorced isn't all bad, is it? Happy Valentine's day!

I do the same thing. But whatever I hide usually turns up. Or sometimes I have "visions" of what I've done with some item.

Can you have a vision for me? Please :)

Love your dilemma. A note to one's self, via email, could record the many secret hiding places ladies seem to need in drawers, cubbies, closets and kitchen cabinets. Why, I'm sure. But the lost and never found is alive and well here as well.

As to Colbert, I can't believe there are those of the younger generations who think he and others are actually broadcasting news and factual information. They rank high on surveys. Amazing, but he is very funny.

Joan,
This is goofy, but it can work. Try the prayer to St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost items.

It goes something like, "Tony, Tony, come around;
My camera has been lost and can't be found.
You'll have to Google the rest.
Try it.

Keep looking. It will eventually show or maybe not. It may 'have grown legs' and walked right out the back door.

Thanks folks. I guess I could just clean my house, huh. That seems like desperation. ;)

No, I cannot be the only one to assume that the very "people I didn't know coming and going while I was at work" did, in fact probably find it.
I suppose you nice people just don't want to say it out loud.
Probably too late to call the cops, eh!

Charlestonjoan said...

Right. Too late to call the cops and too hard to explain that I didn't even remember where it was.
