Old Trees

The Garden under the Oaks, Charleston, S.C.
It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit. Robert Louis Stevenson
Most of the pictures of the lovely oak trees I post are taken on my walk from my car to my office in the morning. I've been enjoying showing you a sneak peak at this lovely meditation garden. It's always been a beautiful spot, and is absolutely incredible now.

We are waiting delivery of a life size statue of Jesus that is being hand carved by a sculptor in Ohio. Opening festivities are being planned for when the final touches are in place but awestruck visitors are discovering it and slipping in already. Bring your camera. Holler if you need directions.

Yes, it is. Anyone parking at the hospital is welcome to walk through the garden.

Oh, Joan, this is a wonderful setting. I remember the other shot that you have of this. The one that you took on the day that you fell. I hope that you have healed from that! - What a wonderful place for people to go to find some peace and healing! I love that doorway. What do y'all call that? Does it have some kind of Greek architectural name? Anyway, it looks so stunning out there amongst the green.

Nikki - It is a beautiful setting. I was taking pictures to go on the invitation to the opening reception and trying to catch the right light. The idea is that is a natural cathedral with the doors leading to different parts of the garden.

Thanks for all your comments! They make my day.

A natural cathedral is the best kind. Just beautiful.

Well, that sure beats a naked statue of Angelina Jolie breast feeding - which is due to be set up any day now in Oklahoma to celebrate "World Breastfeeding Week" or something...

Like, do we really need "World Breastfeeding Week"????? What's next, "World Take A Poop Week"? "World Breathe In and Out Week"? Any other bodily functions we can memorialize????
