Playing with the big kids

Emma, Charleston, SC

I started out my walk this morning meeting sweet Emma at the Governor Thomas Bennett House gardens to see if we can't win her Miss Photogenic Hanahan High School for the third year in a row. What do you think? I didn't look like this when I was seventeen. I pity the boys at Hanahan High.

I'll be at the big shindig at the Charleston Place Hotel this evening, sneaking into the over booked event with camera flashes and batteries crammed in my coat pocket. Tom Brokaw is the guest speaker so it's quite a big deal. I shouldn't be there at all but I have an important date. One of the Directors thought I should attend and called to remind our Senior VP who happens to be a Catholic Priest that he had an extra ticket and that Joan should have it.

Yep. My date is a priest. The gals at Dillards were falling over laughing when I bought my dress and I am instructed to report back to make sure I haven't corrupted a man of the cloth.

Corrupt him. It would make a great blog post.

Have a great time, Tom Brokaw would be fantastic to hear in person. As for the date, I've been out with ladies that might as well have been nuns. Stern attitude, disapproving look at any suggestion, possible 12 inch ruler hidden in a pocketbook for slapping hands, so a priest can't be all that bad.

Sounds like a fun night to me. As for Emma, fantastic shot of a great beauty.

You've got beautiful fabric on that new dress and he's a man of the cloth - should make for some great conversation. {snigger}

I don't think girls were that pretty when I was in high school...

Doug: I wasn't :)

Abraham Lincoln; thanks. I am not a glamor photographer but she makes it easy to get a good picture.

Greg: I would say so.

Mike: that made me laugh :)

Denise: I told him that. Heheh.

BeachBum : I like Tom Brokaw too. I felt lucky to be there.

Jarart: It was a great night. Pictures to follow.

nazeee: Thank you!

There were a few girls that looked like that when I was in high school, but they were all extremely obnoxious and self-centered.

The real beauty of this girl lies in whether her temperament matches her looks... if so, she's a winner!

If you Google Image search "Hanahan High School" the second image that comes up is the one of Emma here. It sometimes is the first. I did this search again today because I wanted to pass the following news to Joan Perry.

One of Joan's photographs of Emma was selected by a committee of professional photographers to be included in the Hanahan High School 2010 "Talon" school annual as "Miss Talon". This is the second year this has happened using one of Joan’s photographs. “Miss Photogenic” and “Miss Talon” are different events.

Regarding her temperament, I would like to point out that she was elected by the senior class to be the 2010 "Prom Queen" two weeks ago today. I would like to think that this is a testament to her temperament.
