Fruit ID

Charleston, S.C.
Curious here....what are the orange fruits hanging low?

I am off to bed early. I have some sleep to catch up with. You kids turn the lights out. Don't stay up too late.

Easter eggs?

I was going to say persimmon. Then Kate's answer made more sense.

I want a picture of a Cadbury tree, though!

Looks to be a kumquat. :-)

Those are the ubiquitous "Low Hanging" fruit. They are usually the first to be picked because they are easy to reach.

All I know is they are not oranges.

Love it! Brilliant!

Oh, I do too! I have been pacing myself but I am out of Cadbury's eggs. It was a sad evening.

Right. They are a different shape and hang down. I think they might be kumquats.

They are! A toddler could pick these.

It's a hybrid, Joan. Probably Thomasville Citrangequat or something like that. I've got a Satsuma mandarin tree in my yard. We have gobs of hybrid citrus growing outside in parts of Norfolk, Va Beach that are old too and very edible. Yall have an enormous amount there i'm sure.

Kumquats of some variety. We have a small kumquat tree (looks a little topiary like actually) and it has been loaded with them this year. Very tasty - sweet and tart simultaneously. And you know what's weird is that you eat the whole thing!
