Fog! I was not the only person with a camera enjoying yesterday's fog. I went to North Charleston's Riverfront Mark & Naval Base Memorial. Along the with usual sculptures they have rotating outdoor sculptures on display. I was pleased to see a few of the historic buildings under repair.

Searching for sinkholes

Santee St. Park, Sinkhole Trail, Santee, SC

I had been to Santee State Park before but clearly missed cool exploring opportunities. My friend English led us to the Sinkhole trail through the woods to a large limestone sinkhole pond - with a rather large lazy alligator standing guard. It was a beautiful walk through the woods with wildflowers and butterflies.

Fair warning that there may have been more water than usual and the trail isn't very well marked in the areas that water crosses it. No harm done since the walk isn't very far and if you missed a turn you could always back track. We ended up at even more dramatic and fenced in sinkholes and a sinkhole within a sinkhole.

Walk with me - Hampton Park

Charleston is a garden at the moment with azaleas and dogwoods bursting into bloom. Yesterday morning I walked the Hampton Park area roaming all the side streets and up and down Rutledge. It looks peaceful enough in the pictures but lots of people were out enjoying the weather, playing sports and walking their dogs. More rain on the way but yesterday morning was glorious.

Fog Walking - Magnolia Plantation

I was to help with a neighborhood clean up this morning but checking my phone from bed I learned it was cancelled due to the rain and fog. Fog! That got me up from my lazy bed and out to Magnolia Gardens for a walk in the mist. I wandered through the camellia garden and climbed the observation tower. Not a bad way to celebrate my birthday. 

Walk with me - Gadsden St.

This morning's walk was along Gadsden St. which isn't a very long street going from Calhoun to just below Beaufain St. I like the mix of grand mansions and smaller cottages and that first photo is a darling home.

19 Gadsden is for sale if you want an inside tour: Thomas Hamlin House. If you have a couple million to spare and buy it there would be plenty of room for me to move in and you'd hardly notice me.

Every day I wake up without the flu is a good day and I hope y'all are staying healthy as well.

Walk with me - Caw Caw

Caw Caw Park, Ravenel, SC  

Caw Caw (funny name, eh?) is a Charleston County Park in Ravenel. It is a good one for long walks along former rice fields and bird watching. I'd recommend getting a map since some of the trails are quite long. It was a bright and sunny day and good for beating deep thoughts into the paths. Hopefully I didn't scare any wildlife with my thumping.

I drove home smiling knowing I had tasty leftovers to warm up. Happy Boxing Day kids!

Walk with me - Hampton Park

I have noticed a recent personal trend of increased laziness and slow starts on weekends. Ooops. I need to watch that. Hate to let precious weekend time slip away. I did my morning walk around Hampton Park and then had such a lovely evening with friends - dinner at Charleston Grill and the festive Symphony Holiday Pops. I hope your day was good.

I am happy to see there is still a colorful character side to Folly Beach. Sadly, living here I hesitate to go to the beach in the crowed summer time but in the winter it is a lovely walk.

It's fun to walk downtown Charleston on the busiest shopping day of the year when you aren't actually looking for anything to buy. I parked and walked along Beaufain St. and enjoyed all the splashes of color along the way.
