Beat the BAR

King St., Charleston, S.C.

Let's play beat the Board of Architectural Review! These folks apparently want to change the color of their house. They have been instructed to paint a sample of the colors they hope for so members of the Board of Architectural Review can drive by and determine what they will grant permission for.

Being a BLUE person, I think they should go back to the original color. What do y'all vote for?

I think they must really want the green, so they put two other stronger colors up that would be more appropriate somewhere in the southwest. However, I am with you - stick with blue.

I bet they will get permission for the orange shade in the center. That green doesn't look like a very historically accurate shade.

As a blue person as well, I side with you. The orange is too bright and the green on the sickly side.

Are those colors historically accurate, or are they just colors that someone might like? Of those, I would go with the blue also.

I will follow up and see what the BAR allowed. I think the color has to fit a historical house. When I did it I took all the blue samples I liked and let them pick which one they would approve. I didn't want to do the sample routine. They were very helpful.

I haven't seen a red that bright around here, so I hope they can go for it. My house is pink and if it didn't have a mere 2 yr old paint job from former owner, I'd be trying to switch myself. Though I think I want to go blue! :)

I walked by again today and they still had the test patches up. I'll check back and see what they decided. Since then I have seen a coupld in very dark red/orange.
