Lake Erie Boat Hammock

Lake Erie, Canada

Clearly this isn't a lowcountry scene but I must be allowed to leave the Charleston peninsula once and awhile. When I was in Canada over LaboUr day, my brother drove me through cottage country along Lake Erie to Port Dover. I made him stop to let me get a picture of these contraptions.

How about this, eh? This is how they store their boats. The boat rests in the sling and is cranked up above the water level. All I can figure is that you would have to wade out in the water to get in the boat each time but I guess they don't have to worry about tides. Pretty neato I thought!
