Snow Days, Snow Days

Gillon St., Charleston, SC

I've been clicking around the other sites on the City Daily Photo site and started to feel left out. Everyone has snow pictures. Beautiful snow covered trees, snow men, and dramatic icicles posted while I'm pulling off my jacket to keep from over heating while I walk and taking second showers. I remembered this shot from early blogging days taken with a little pocket camera. Yeah! A Charleston snow picture.

Don't look too closely or you will see the hose they used to spray the snow on to get this final shot.

Not that I am complaining.

Guess they didn't want to wait around another hundred years before the next snowfall in Charleston. The phony snow is picturesque, though, isn't it?

The rest of the street looks so plain!

Yeah, I saw the hose and the guy in the shorts and t-shirt, too. Still, in Charleston ya gotta take it however you can get it, right? :)

And the leaves were so fresh and green. I think it was in the summer.

LOL!

I like snow photos because they're pretty, but that's it. I'm happy with our tropical weather, thank you ;D

I, too, hate to complain about "no snow" when it's supposed to reach 75 degrees today (January 6) but - being a Chicago girl - I do miss it during the holidays. For a day. Or two. That's it. :-)

Hilda: So am I. Except in hurricane season.

Denise: It's pretty to look at for about a weekend, eh!

maggsworld: Christmas in the summer would be hard to get used to.

Awesome! Thanks so much for posting this, I just randomly ran across it while googling for something else, and was led to your blog! I was actually the assistant producer on this here photo shoot at the time, it was for Land's End fall/winter catalog years ago, (unless they used the same spot in years since, but that photographer is the same too). This was my favorite day of working, it was so neat to be on set that day, and we ended up having a large crowd just watching, they all thought we were making a movie! But sadly no, just a catalog photo shoot!

That is just perfect! We did have snow in Charleston this weekend, the first in ten years and I actually walked by that house yesterday morning to see if I could get a real shot. You did better with your fake snow than I could get by the time I got there. How fun. Thanks for writing and bringing the picture full circle.
