To whom much is given, much must be protected:

Guard pigs on Murray Blvd., Charleston, SC
To whom much is given, much must be protected. Meet the guard critters of Murray Blvd. and South Battery. I found pigs, lions, dogs and teddy bears!

What a lovely sunny day. We have rain coming this evening and cold tomorrow but everyone was out enjoying the sunshine as I walked this morning.

Charleston at Christmas

Dog & Horse, Church St., Charleston, SC
I am getting slack. Who knew we had a Dog & Horse Fine Art & Portraiture store on Church St.? I didn't. Click the link to check it out. Dogs and Horses doggone it.

The Meeting St. Inn looks festive as always at Christmas but do you notice something missing from the frequently photographed windows on Tradd St.? The pig is gone from the window. The property may have changed hands but I don't believe city council voted to let them take the pig out of the window.

A perfect day for a pig roast

Johns Island, SC
We have had the most glorious weather for our Thanksgiving weekend in the lowcountry and I've had a lovely mix of peaceful relaxation with family and social time with friends. I have much to be thankful for.

Saturday afternoon I was fortunate to be invited to a pig roast on a slice of heaven on Johns Island. Along with many good friends the attendees included writers, photographers, artists, physicians, astronomers, chefs, all sorts of fascinating people and lucky ME. Besides the roasted pig there was a long table full of rice, beans, macaroni and cheese and too many tasty treats to fit on my plate.

Now, the only thing wrong with a four day weekend is that it isn't a four day weekend. Boo.

This little Piggy

Piggy holiday decor, Charleston, SC
This little piggy dresses up for Christmas! So does his partner on the other side of the steps.

My understanding is that the home belongs to the owners of the former Piggly Wiggly grocery store chain and I always know they will do something fun with the guard pigs for the holidays.

This Little Piggy

This little piggy, Magnolia Plantation, Charleston
He is cute but I'll let him stay in the petting zoo at Magnolia Plantation where he can muck around in the mud. I was there first thing in the morning so all the critters thought I might be breakfast lady. Sorry kids.

This little festive piggie....

Charleston Window Box, Charleston, S.C.
Oink, oink. The festive window piggie is decorated for Christmas. We don't lack for holiday color do we?

This little piggy went to market

Guard Pig, Charleston, S.C.
We used to have canons guarding the harbor and now we have Guard Pigs. There is a pig on either side of the entrance to this beautiful home and I've been told it is the home of the owners of the Piggly Wiggly grocery chain.

Check out the dramatic skies! I think we'll have another thundershower this afternoon but it made for wonderful pictures this morning. The only problem with long walks is that I come home starving. I stopped at the Savannah Bee Company shop on King St. for tiny bottle of sourwood honey and I'm eating it on toasted English muffins. So much for exercising to stay in shape. Oooooh......sticky keyboard.
