Rest in Peace

Shep Yelman, 1913 - 2010

Precious rascal. We are going to miss you.

Yesterday was tough but today all I can think of are the funny stories. Just missed his 97 birthday. The last time we talked I'd been laying plans to bring the party to him. Yesterday he mumbled, "we haven't had the party yet..."

My heart is full of gratitude to the staff at Horizon Bay Assisted Living who tended to this gentleman with kindness when he needed it most. He hated being there with his whole independent heart but they were as gentle and caring as this feisty WWII veteran deserved.

Edit: Obituary link.

Blogging and crying. Sheesh.

I am just so sad. What a lovely man. RIP, Shep.

As we stand here saying "Well, there he goes..." his friends and family on the other side are saying "LOOK! Here he comes!!!"

Nice. True. He was in so much pain when I saw him I couldn't have wanted that to last long.

I am going to miss Mr. Shep. He and I always talked in the cafeteria line when we met up. We talked about being consious of what we were choosing to eat; Mr Shep always took his dessert as a take out to enjoy later. What a wonderful man!

Reminds me of my Daddy who passed @ 98 last August--they just don't make 'em like that anymore. Sorry for your loss, Joan.

So sorry for your loss. He was born one week before my father was, but he missed 97 by 10 years. May his soul be blessed.
