Rest in Peace
Shep Yelman, 1913 - 2010
Precious rascal. We are going to miss you.
Yesterday was tough but today all I can think of are the funny stories. Just missed his 97 birthday. The last time we talked I'd been laying plans to bring the party to him. Yesterday he mumbled, "we haven't had the party yet..."
My heart is full of gratitude to the staff at Horizon Bay Assisted Living who tended to this gentleman with kindness when he needed it most. He hated being there with his whole independent heart but they were as gentle and caring as this feisty WWII veteran deserved.

I am just so sad. What a lovely man. RIP, Shep.
As we stand here saying "Well, there he goes..." his friends and family on the other side are saying "LOOK! Here he comes!!!"
Nice. True. He was in so much pain when I saw him I couldn't have wanted that to last long.
Joan, I am so sorry to hear of your dear friend's passing. My condolences to his family and to you and his Roper St. Francis family and friends. Rest in peace Mr. Shep.
I am going to miss Mr. Shep. He and I always talked in the cafeteria line when we met up. We talked about being consious of what we were choosing to eat; Mr Shep always took his dessert as a take out to enjoy later. What a wonderful man!
Beautiful Joan. You captured the sweetness of the man in this photo. Thanks for sharing.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Shep, but thanks for taking the time to write this post about him, Joan. Sounds like he was a good man.
Hey Joan, so sorry about your friend - he looks like a wonderful man. Check the dates you posted... this is 2010. Wishful thinking, on all our parts...
Getting ahead of myself aren't I? Thanks !
Sorry for your loss, he sounds like one of those who add to life where ever they go. What a blessing and example to all who knew him. Sally
