When I am having a lazy weekend morning and looking for a shorter exercise route I sometimes park at Harris Teeter grocery store and walk the greenway path through to South Windermere. This morning I backtracked to grab a shot of the Coburg Cow statue dressed for the season in her Easter Bonnet. Thanks to the owners for keeping up this fun tradition of themed holiday wear.

After an iced coffee break at Earthfare - almost the only store open in the usually lively shopping center I headed back. It feels like a reasonable walk but only logged under 6,000 steps.

The Coburg Cow was bravely trying to look cheery for Easter in the rainy drizzle while back at my house the bear easily won the Easter egg hunt.

Telling someone "not to have a cow" might not normally sound like a positive thing but in this case winning a cow is the goal! The Coburg Cow sign is the symbol of the West Ashley neighborhood and our own newspaper West Of has used the symbol for the annual Westie Awards honoring people who make a difference in this part of town.

This year's award program was held at the new dessert/coffee cafe Gala Desserts and they laid out a delicious spread of food. As a previous cow trophy recipient, I nominated a few worthy souls this time and was proud as punch to see them honored. Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Eugene Geer, my volunteers Charles Williamon, John Hogg and all the other recipients of this year's award. Congratulations folks!

This was taken last year. I'll need to check to see if they have kept up the latest in patriotic dairy fashions.

I've been home today because of the ice storm. Slept in, watched the news (poor Atlanta!), caught up reading old New York Times and finally stretched my legs walking around the neighborhood. Poor Bessie the Coburg Cow statue was drooling ice and looked like she had udders. Someone get a blanket for that cow!

I've been lucky and haven't lost power but according to facebook many people have. I just enjoyed a large bowl of chicken, ginger, mushroom soup. It's been a nice lazy day but lets get back on track tomorrow. I have a lot of things scheduled. I hope everyone is snug, warm and safe.

Walk of Shame - Boo Moo!

Uhoh. Someone clearly didn't go directly home after a Halloween party last night.

Things are a dreary and wet out today. I got up early ready to take pictures at the AIDS walk this morning at Hampton Park but they finally had to cancel it. What a shame.

I made a lemon tart that called for the entire lemon. It asked that I take out the seeds but toss all the rest of it into the recipe to be pureed. That is new! We shall see. It looks and smells delicious.

Happy birthday America! Now drink your chocolate milk. The Coburg Dairy isn't even the Coburg Dairy anymore but I think we'd revolt if they tried to change this landmark.

Watching the happy facebook posts coming in it looks like everyone had a great day and will be sore and  sunburned tomorrow.  I met my son for lunch at the Jamaican restaurant by the North Charleston Riverfront Park but we were in and out before all the happy chaos. Now I am watching the fireworks on tv while listening to the real ones outside.

Two more days of work and then the weekend - we can handle that. Every week should work this way!

When I stopped by Mayor Riley's campaigne kick off yesterday on the way home from work, I parked in the shopping center next to the Coburg Cow and noticed she still had on her Easter finest. Check out that bonnet!

It is definately worth reading Warren Cobb's write up on the history of the Coburg Cow in Charleston and from SCIWay I found this little snippet of video of what we aren't supposed to be doing anymore - riding that cow!
