Teeny, tiny houses - Rockville

Tiny house, Rockville, SC
So tiny I won't be able to have you over for dinner. Sorry about that.

Farmer's market time!

Gruber Farms - Veggie Stand, St. George, SC
Hip, hip hurrah for Farmer's Market stands! This one is on Hwy 15 heading towards St. George, SC and was a happy sight. What a treat to get fresh vegetables. I happened to need a couple of zucchinis for a blueberry cake recipe that has been floating around facebook recently and it is in the oven at this very moment. Fingers crossed.

The Gruber property also has the three tiny rental cottages from a time when it was a major traffic thoroughfare. They are still rented and over 60 years old. I had noticed them before put purchasing a few vegetables felt like permission to grab a photo op. The owners even moved their truck so I could get a clear shot of the adorable cottages.

Teeny, tiny houses of Charleston

1 Kracke St., Charleston, SC
This is a sweet little renovation on Kracke St. Looking at the side view it isn't so very teeny, tiny after all! Built in 1893 is has three bedrooms and two baths. That would be one more bathroom than I have.

I hope everyone stayed dry and out of traffic jams today. What a mess.

Tiny House Sale

King St., Charleston, SC
One of Charleston's most adorable tiny houses is for sale. On King St. and close to White Point Gardens naturally the price is not quite so adorably tiny. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms. You can check the real estate listing to take a look inside while it is on the market. As always, if you buy it it is assumed that I will be invited for tea. High tea.

Teeny, tiny houses of Charleston - Drake St.

Drake St., Charleston, SC
Another rainy day in Charleston with the usual flooded streets. I was lucky enough to switch one meeting across town into a conference call, stayed snug in my office with a mug of tea and still got the job done.

I had this picture from my weekend walk saved to share and add to my collection of tiny houses. It is a sweetie. Below you can see it in proportion to it's larger neighbor.

Teeny, tiny houses of the lowcountry

Drayton Hall privy, Charleston, S.C.
I have a little brick sweetie to add to our collection of teeny, tiny houses of Charleston. Tin roof, fireplace. I am ready to move it. One catch - this particular wee cottage was actually the privy or outhouse for the much larger mansion. We are still going to do it in style since the framed sketch inside shows that it was a seven-seater! Call your friends. We have room for everyone. Yikes.

The fireplace was added later when it was used as an office.

Teeny tiny houses of the lowcountry

Lowcountry cottage, Vance, S.C.
I have a soft spot for sweet little lowcountry cottages and I keep my eye out for this one. This little red cottage is on Old Number Six Highway around Vance, S.C. Although I've never seen anyone there, if you look closely there are rocking chairs on the porch.

Cutest little burger hut

Morrison's Burger Hut, Hollywood, S.C.
This has got to be one of the cutest and tiniest Burger Hut in the country and also perhaps one of the most religious. They boast of being the smallest eatery with the biggest taste. It was closed up tight when I went by but it was a Sunday so I expect they were at church.

Teeny tiny business buildings

King St., Charleston, S.C.
I alternate between featuring teeny, tiny houses of Charleston and teeny, tiny business buildings. I love how they are squeezed in between other buildings. Some of them look like they may have started as alleyways and got walled to sprout a new business. This one is a hair salon named Parlor at 476 King St.

I met friends at The Macintosh for brunch this morning and had my favorite dish - the "Mac Attack" which includes pork belly and a poached egg. Oh my. I may never need to eat again.

I love the upper porch at Fish Restaurant with the brick wall. Isn't it beautiful?

Fish Restaurant, King St., Charleston, S.C.
Not sure what the event was but these bikers were already posing for photos so I grabbed one too. After brunch we headed up to the North Charleston Performing Arts center and saw the Jersey Boys Off Broadway show. Old tunes are playing in my head now. Not a bad weekend at all.

Okay kids, are we brave enough to go back to work tomorrow?

Teeny, tiny houses of Charleston

King St., Charleston, S.C.
Here is another sweetie in the teeny, tiny houses of Charleston category. This one is on lower King St. almost at the Battery.

It is hard to believe we could be having such bright and sunny weather while tropical storm Sandy is hitting the north east. It is so distressing knowing what those poor people will have to go through.

I cooked dinner for six women friends this evening. This is mostly a retired gang of hospital employees. Soon I'll be the only one of this group working while they fritter their jolly time away going out to lunch and puttering in their gardens. I want to be retired when I grow up. We had a lovely dinner after I scrambled together enough silverware for seven. I am clearly out of the habit of large scale entertaining and I had to borrow two forks from my son. I served roasted beet and goat cheese salad, shepherd's pie, corn and a lemon tart. Yummers.

Teeny, tiny houses of Charleston

Charleston, S.C.

This is one of the teeny tiny houses of Charleston. There are a few of these miniature darlings sprinkled across the peninsula. It made me look for the link to the tiny house blog for you. Ain't they just cute, cute, cute?!

I've been good today and sat in meetings all day long at Trident Technical College. If I go to one more Leadership Meeting I expect I'll be awarded a Nobel Prize. Or more likely a Bobble Head Prize for nodding at appropriate times. Did you know you can bobble head yourself?

It's a lovely night for a walk and people are outside sitting on porches, skateboarding, visiting and hauling crates of beer into the student apartments. Lights are on at dusk and I can see pretty colors inside the houses. Walking past the projects I realize that I am indeed the only person left without a wide screen tv. It's nice to be able to open the windows and let the breeze blow through.

Enough. I've got chores to do before bed.
