Happy Halloween!

Halloween 2019, 70s theme, Charleston, SC

I was hoping to find someone with a VW van or bug to park in front of the hospital for our 70's theme this Halloween but I did even better! My friend Libby had a 1972 Ford LTD convertible and let us climb inside and have fun with it!

We had a grand time roaming the hospital passing out candy treats. Thanks for the fun, folks!

Ghostly presence in Charleston

Broad St., Charleston, SC
The reflection in the window across from the Cathedral on Broad St. confirmed all
suspicions of ghostly presence in the Holy City. Boo!

Halloween 50s Style!

Halloween 50s style! Charleston, SC
Not everyone can dress for Halloween in a hospital but some of us can and my volunteer team led the charge. Elvis and Rick James joined the parade serenading the staff and patients. It was a fun day. I think I got my 10,000 steps in.

Boo!

Boo! Charleston, SC
I liked the skeleton looking through the glass. People do make some effort to decorate their homes for holidays and I am an appreciative audience.

Doors of Charleston - Halloween Style

Halloween style! King Street, Charleston, SC
There seems to be daily sad news lately with today's being the shooting in the temple in Pittsburgh. It is heartbreaking that there is so much hate in this world.

It does me good to get out walking and pound frustrations into the pavement. I am grateful for these home owners who made me smile as I went by.

Charleston Halloween Party in Progress

Halloween, Charleston, SC
I check on this house every year on my Halloween photo op rounds and it never fails to delight. Enjoy!

Bear with me!

Halloween 2018, Charleston, SC
It's time to start dragging your skeletons out of the closet and posing them around the yard.
I even got a head start on the hospital pumpkin decorating contest by photocopying pictures and gluing them on a (fake) pumpkin. I can't do that much work on something that it going to rot.

Pull right up, my friends. Boo!

Halloween Mural, Charleston, SC
Pull right up, my friends. We've saved you a spot.

Yikes!

Mural artist Douglas Panzone is painting a new mural on DB's Cheesesteaks at the corner of Savannah Highway and Avondale Avenue in anticipation of the premier of the Halloween movie staring Jamie Lee Curtis and filmed locally, opening this month.

Still dressed for Halloween

McClellanville, SC
Someone is wearing his Halloween costume too close to Thanksgiving. Isn't there an etiquette rule covering this? No white after Labor Day, no fangs in November.

Making the Halloween rounds

Happy Halloween 2017, Charleston, SC
There is nothing I like better on holiday evenings than watching all the fun pictures come in on social media. What a creative crowd my friends and family members are. Not having little ones around I especially love the kiddie pictures.

This was my merry band of hospital volunteers dressed as Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. We all contributed candy and they roamed the hospital treating employees and visitors to a sweet treat. I guess that is reverse trick or treating. Happy Halloween to all! Be safe.

Who needs a broomstick?

Branchville, SC
This witch has upgraded!

That was some rain storm we had this evening in Charleston. I am glad I wasn't out driving in it. Hope y'all are home safe and dry.

Halloween tour of Charleston

King St., Charleston, SC
In my mind these home owners should get a tax deduction for taking the time to delight so many people every year. They certainly make me smile and I look forward to taking a long walk to check out the Halloween decorations. Thanks folks! We appreciate it.

Boo!

Halloween, Charleston, SC
I bought myself a skeleton this year and have had fun posing him around my property. It then dawned on my with the limited storage in my small home he may need to sleep in the guest bed between seasons.

Halloween's Last Call

Madden St., North Charleston, S.C.
I have a weakness for wacky yard art and this was the jackpot! I saw a picture of this haunted house of horrors on a side street in North Charleston posted on Facebook and had to track it down. The owner said he had had between 2 - 300 hundred children come through the winding path in his yard on Halloween. I can't even imagine the squealing that must have been coming from that yard. He invited me to follow the path and wasn't at all surprised to have found me in his yard taking pictures. Boo!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween 2014, Charleston, S.C.
My merry band of hospital volunteers outdid themselves this year. They planned their costumes in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz. We traipsed around the hospital passing out candy treats to the staff, visitors and the occasional patient who might be in the mood for festivities. What good sports!

I stopped by the St. Andrew's Parks & Recreation yard sale about a month ago and took advantage of them selling off their vintage baseball uniforms for $2 each. I asked for three of the "least stained" ones and they were perfect and easy costumes. Happy Halloween everyone!

Enter if you dare!

Enter if you date! S.C.
I don't think these folks need any other security system, do you?! Yikes. I pulled this out of my Backroads album for the looking for something Halloween related. I can assure you that I did not enter the drive to explore any deeper.

Have a good Halloween folks. I am looking forward to lots of fun kids in costume pictures on facebook.
