Happy Halloween!

Halloween 2019, 70s theme, Charleston, SC

I was hoping to find someone with a VW van or bug to park in front of the hospital for our 70's theme this Halloween but I did even better! My friend Libby had a 1972 Ford LTD convertible and let us climb inside and have fun with it!

We had a grand time roaming the hospital passing out candy treats. Thanks for the fun, folks!

Halloween 50s Style!

Halloween 50s style! Charleston, SC
Not everyone can dress for Halloween in a hospital but some of us can and my volunteer team led the charge. Elvis and Rick James joined the parade serenading the staff and patients. It was a fun day. I think I got my 10,000 steps in.

Boo!

Boo! Charleston, SC
I liked the skeleton looking through the glass. People do make some effort to decorate their homes for holidays and I am an appreciative audience.

Doors of Charleston - Halloween Style

Halloween style! King Street, Charleston, SC
There seems to be daily sad news lately with today's being the shooting in the temple in Pittsburgh. It is heartbreaking that there is so much hate in this world.

It does me good to get out walking and pound frustrations into the pavement. I am grateful for these home owners who made me smile as I went by.

Charleston Halloween Party in Progress

Halloween, Charleston, SC
I check on this house every year on my Halloween photo op rounds and it never fails to delight. Enjoy!

Who needs a broomstick?

Branchville, SC
This witch has upgraded!

That was some rain storm we had this evening in Charleston. I am glad I wasn't out driving in it. Hope y'all are home safe and dry.

Gimme a kiss!

Chocolate Kisses Halloween, Charleston, SC
One last Halloween post before I close the chapter for the year. Halloween is like a national holiday for the hospital volunteer department. This happy group coordinated their costume designing and came as Chocolate Kisses. The funniest part was trying to get them all on an elevator together! They roamed the hospital passing out candy treats and posing for photos.

Onward!

Halloween tour of Charleston

King St., Charleston, SC
In my mind these home owners should get a tax deduction for taking the time to delight so many people every year. They certainly make me smile and I look forward to taking a long walk to check out the Halloween decorations. Thanks folks! We appreciate it.

Boo!

Halloween, Charleston, SC
I bought myself a skeleton this year and have had fun posing him around my property. It then dawned on my with the limited storage in my small home he may need to sleep in the guest bed between seasons.

Meet my Minions

Charleston, SC
Halloween is like a national holiday for the volunteer team at my hospital. They brought in bag after bag of candy treats, planned their costume, in some cases knitted their own hats and made their goggles and came dressed as minions.

I don't have grandchildren so I am out of the minion loop but apparently they are most beloved characters and everyone wanted their picture taken with the happy gang. It was a fun day. Happy halloween!

Hospital Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Ms. M & M, Pumpkin Decorating Contest, Charleston, SC
I try to make sure we continue our pumpkin decorating contest no matter how busy we are because I work with some incredibly creative folks. It is a popular choice contest and there is another chance to cast a vote tomorrow so we can't announce winners yet. Thanks to my volunteers who came in today to staff the table. Ms. M & M is bringing in a lot of votes so far.

One of my favorites below is by the Engineering Department who did a portrait of their boss and the most frequent word they hear coming out of his mouth. Luckily he does have a sense of humor and posed with his namesake. Heheheh. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Halloween's Last Call

Madden St., North Charleston, S.C.
I have a weakness for wacky yard art and this was the jackpot! I saw a picture of this haunted house of horrors on a side street in North Charleston posted on Facebook and had to track it down. The owner said he had had between 2 - 300 hundred children come through the winding path in his yard on Halloween. I can't even imagine the squealing that must have been coming from that yard. He invited me to follow the path and wasn't at all surprised to have found me in his yard taking pictures. Boo!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween 2014, Charleston, S.C.
My merry band of hospital volunteers outdid themselves this year. They planned their costumes in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz. We traipsed around the hospital passing out candy treats to the staff, visitors and the occasional patient who might be in the mood for festivities. What good sports!

I stopped by the St. Andrew's Parks & Recreation yard sale about a month ago and took advantage of them selling off their vintage baseball uniforms for $2 each. I asked for three of the "least stained" ones and they were perfect and easy costumes. Happy Halloween everyone!

Attack of the giant spiders

Giant spiders, Charleston, S.C.
Attack of the giant spiders! I do love people who go all out for my amusement. Thanks folks!

I took my son to brunch at Madra Rua this morning to celebrate his thirty-first birthday. How did that happen? I swear he was just born a few years ago.
