Find a Ginkgo Biloba party near you!

Ginkgo Biloba leaves, Charleston, SC
It seems to happen overnight and I added quite a few steps to my weekend walk to see if I might catch the Ginkgo Biloba leaves on the pair of trees at the Library Society building in their bright yellow party wear but they were a disappointment this year and much more brown than yellow. I found others along my way to make up for it but those two usually put on a dramatic show.

Raining Yellow Leaves

Ginkgo Biloba tree, Charles Town Landing, S.C.
My daughter is home for a quick Thanksgiving visit and I've been enjoying having my two children around for a change. There is nothing that makes me happier than hearing my kids laugh together. Sweet!

We did a quick walk around Charles Town Landing this morning and I happened to catch the Ginkgo trees in full glory.

I hope everyone is having a good holiday weekend. I think I hear some cold turkey sandwiches calling my name.

Fall color in the lowcountry

Charles Towne Landing, Charleston, S.C.
This is the scene that greeted me at the entrance to Charles Towne Landing on Sunday. Wow. It was beautiful. Also below, a reminder that it is almost time for the annual Ginko Biloba party when the leaves turn bright yellow and twirl to the ground. Magic. Two of the very best are at the Charleston Library Society but Charles Towne Landing has a couple as well.

In other news, Pecha Kucha 20 tickets go on sale tomorrow at 6 .pm. I haven't had much luck being free to get there recently but the tickets sell in a snap so be ready to order if you want to go: Charleston Creative Parliament.

Let there be YELLOW!

Charles Towne Landing, Charleston, S.C.
I joined the stroller brigade of young parents and toddlers walking off our holiday meals and enjoying the bright sunny day at Charles Towne Landing. I happened upon these ginkgo biloba trees in full bloom at the entrance to the Animal Forist.

What a nice day. I enjoyed my Ultimate Grilled Cheese and roasted corn on the cob at Sesame and caught a movie with my son.  I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.

Upcoming Ginkgo Biloba Festivities

Ginkgo trees - Charleston Library Society, King St., Charleston, S.C.

It is almost time for Charleston's Ginkgo tree festivities. In one outburst of color these leaves will turn yellow and fall to create a carpet of bright yellow. It won't be long.

The trees are beautiful but apparently you want to make sure you have a male tree since the female trees fruit has a stinky odor and you can find almost as many articles from people who love the trees as there are from people who can't stand the smell.

In other news, it has been a glorious weekend in Charleston and almost criminal not to be outside enjoying the weather. I made some tiny chicken pot pies and set the table outdoors. Now, as usual I have left all my cleaning and weekend chores to do in the last hour of my weekend. I am off to sweep and dust. Blah. Later kids!

Charleston had a Ginkgo Biloba party and I hope you were there! The crazy wind yesterday probably put an end to the festivities but it was grand while it lasted. Besides, who doesn't like saying Ginkgo Biloba, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginkgo Biloba.....?

And yes, Virginia, there is a Ginko blog! Check out: The Ginkgo Pages where I found this gorgeous video.
