Some time ago I happened to mention on social media the direction we were driving on country roads and suggestions started flowing in of places to see. It was quite wonderful. My friend Brandon suggested a quick detour to the old train depot station of Salters, SC. Thanks Brandon!

In other news, it is the weekend. Celebrate!

The former Blackville Railroad Station has been relocated to a new location and restored as the town library. I found this old photo on the scdepot site. 

Clearly I got enough material on last weeks drive in the country to last for quite a few days.

Train weather-vane for a train station

From my country roads album - a train weather-vane for a train station. Pretty cool I thought. I spotted this in Branchville, SC.

I think I found the train weather-vane here although it would need to be painted black.

Charleston Station

I do like trains. Sadly our North Charleston train station is a bit of a dump but the vintage sign is pretty cool. The last picture I caught of the sign was in the evening against the sun and only showed as a silhouette so I was pleased to get an earlier afternoon view.

It's been a week since our historical rain storm and I'm still drying out my bits and pieces. I didn't think I had much stored in my shed but it seemed like a lot more soaked in a foot and a half of water and carried out to the curb. I got my exercise workout in although my usual walk is a bit more fun. There have already been a few trucks of scavengers come by to see if I threw out anything worthwhile. I hope they get lucky.

Day trip - Elloree, S.C.

Three day weekends are long enough  for last minute day trips and we are blessed with camera candy destinations in reasonable range. I headed to Elloree yesterday morning planning to wander through their antique shops. It was sad to see another one of them holding a closing sale but that didn't stop me from taking advantage of the deals and met a fella who insisted on coming home with me. A detour took me to say hello to the Tea Pot museum which makes me smile every time although I've never caught it open. I had a sandwich in the Cleveland St. Cafe where peach ice cream was the special of the day.
