South Eastern Wildlife Festival - 2019

The South Eastern Wildlife Festival is winding down today so I directed my walk through Marion Square to at least catch the free displays. I got lucky. The birds of prey were on display, cooking sessions in progress and I had a courtesy bowl of cardamom wild boar stew from Michael's on the Alley. (It was so delicious I already checked their menu to see if it was a regular dish). Everyone seemed to be having fine time and pets were on display in full force.

It has been a few years since I bought a ticket and attended the South EasternWildlife Exhibition. I often simply wander through the free areas but this year I bought a day pass and enjoyed it. In my memory Sunday was often a wind down day when it was slower paced but not today! There was plenty of action, dogs and kids everywhere and the vendors and artists seemed to be doing well.

There is such incredible talent at this show - I love the bird carvings and art work so spent much of my morning at Charleston Place Hotel. The free shuttles offer rides to the different locations so I walked to Gaillard for the marketplace and then hit Brittlebank Park and Marion Square.

The Southeastern Wildlife Festival winds down today and everything is wildlife and animal related. I spotted these pups in the former Bob Ellis Shoe store window and then a block or so down the street saw the live version sponsored by Pet Helpers which was attracting a lot more attention!

Holly Herrick - Cooking Demonstration, Marion Square, Charleston

I only had a few minutes this morning to walk through the Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition tents at Marion Square while I was waiting for a shop on King St. to get something ready for me to pick up. In the short time I was there I spotted a couple of friends in action! I walking in on the end of food writer and cookbook author Holly Herrick and just in time to try a tasty sample. I've taken advantage of Holly's recipes before. Yum.

In the same tent I bumped into Jim Thomas and Jeanie Baxley selling Jimbo's Lowcountry Seasonings. I didn't mind taste testing a few of their samples as well. Everyone seemed to be having a grand time. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Did everyone go get wild at the Southeastern Wildlife Exhibition today? I walked through Marion Square so early they actually asked me to leave the tents since they were still setting up. Oooops.
