Bring in the Clowns

I had lunch with a bunch of clowns. The Caring Clown program in Charleston enjoyed their annual luncheon get-together at Café Fork today. The clowns from different medical facilities in Charleston met each other, traded magic tricks tips and said farewell to Dr. Shutterbug one of our first local clowns.

Thanks to Dr. Geezer (Bob Mason) for bringing the program to South Carolina and Café Fork for being such wonderful hosts!

Go Red! Charleston, S.C.

I spray painted a flat wooden frame red to use as a prop for Go Red day and then tested it while the Caring Clowns were going on rounds. I think it was pretty successful. Thanks for the smiles!

Fiddling with the new can of red spray I accidentally hit the nozzle when it was pointed in the opposite direction and sprayed bright red all the way up my arm to my elbow. I was rushing to work and luckily had some fingernail polish remover that got most of it off but I did look like I had a bad burn all day.

It's Saturday and bright and crisp outside! Where shall I walk this morning?

Clowning around Charleston

When I told people I was having lunch with a bunch of clowns I don't think they took me seriously. It has become tradition for members of the Caring Clown program to gather together each year for lunch at Cafe Fork on Hwy 61. Owner Wendall Edwards welcomed the festive gang, posed for photos and sent out a platter of colorful cake pops for dessert. The Caring Clowns are specially trained clowns who serve as volunteers in hospitals.

I've attended a couple of events today but this was indeed the most colorful! The Caring Clown program of healthcare volunteers had a meeting at the hospital this evening. Do ya think they shared a few laughs?

Humor that Heals

I went to lunch with a couple of clowns on Friday. The folks at Cafe Fork didn't know what hit them when I walked in with four hospital clowns but they were great sports and besides the always tasty lunch the chef sent out complimentary desserts for us all. As it turned out I was the only one who could stuff my face without worrying about clown make up. Bob Mason aka Dr. Geezer brought the Caring Clown program to Charleston quite a few years ago. He has since grown his posse to a small cast of characters who use gentle humor on their rounds.
