9,902 steps after my evening walk and left a sweat dripped trail. Anyone who cared to could have followed me home. Drip, drip.

Rub-a-dub, dub - plants in a tub!

I am having a modest Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow with my son and bought a wee turkey breast that on close inspection says it includes dark meat. How is that? I have no idea what I will discover when I unwrap it. Breast wrapped around a leg?
We had white poster board laid out at work for people to write what they were thankful for and all week long I've paused to read the messages. In a hospital I think we are all thankful to work with good people and have meaningful work that touches peoples lives. There were many messages about the blessings of co-workers, families, homes, faith. Then one kid wrote in large letters in the middle, "I AM A DOG". Heheh.

The end of the weekend

Yummy baked pies might explain the puzzling pie related sidewalk inscription I saw recently in front of the Italian Restaurnat Pane e Vino - next door. Maybe complimenting the wrong place?
I was also pleased to see that our new shiny bike corral was full of bikes! If you build it they will come.
Holy cow, kids, are we ready for another week? Can we discuss three day weekends in the next Presidential debate?

White Christmas

I was just treated out to dinner by the vendor (thanks Mark!) who hosts my fundraising uniform sales. We walked down to Pane e Vino and ate in their outside bistro area. It was just chilly enough to have the heaters on in the enclosed porch area and it was completely comfortable. Truthfully, although this should be my neighborhood Italian restaurant, I've boycotted them for years after I went with a large group of professional women friends and the manager announced at the end of our meal that she wouldn't accept individual checks. She was so snarky about our dilemma as we all sat there with our debit cards in hand, that I simply couldn't go back until I heard it was under new management. I don't know how the current management feels about separate checks because I was treated to a delicious dinner this evening. I had the Lamb Ragu and it was good enough that I'd like to go back and pay for my own meal someday, if they let me.

Tiny people enter here

Thomas & Warren St., Charleston, S.C.
The size of this entry door appears to be an optical illusion. It seems shorter than it should be in comparison to the rest of the house. Perhaps it is the height of the large door frame, especially above the door that makes it appear shorter. Every time I walk by, I think to myself, "Hmmmm.....that looks like a door for tiny people."
I mentioned that on the off chance you ever see me deep in thought at the corner of Thomas & Warren and wonder what I have on my mind. I'm not very deep.

Before & After - Warren St. Favorite

Warren St., Charleston, S.C.
I've had my eye on this sweetie on Warren St. for a long time. I assumed someone would buy it, fix it up and hand me the keys encouraging me to live happily every after. Oddly these people seem to have their own plans because I haven't been consulted at all. Hmmmmph.
Still, nice to see a beautiful old place getting some love.

Home again, home again....

Warren St., Charleston, S.C.
Safely home from St. Louis. Uploading hundreds of pictures, catching up on emails and watching trash day time tv. Charleston has cooled down and is bright and sunny to welcome me home. I've got my sheets in the wash and the windows open.
I walked this morning and was pleased to see all the construction action going on at one of my favorite houses on Warren St.
Thank you all for clicking to vote at the AHA Moment site. It's a weird thing to ask people to do but Water Missions is such a great cause!
Time to do some blog hopping to see what y'all have been up to while I've been away.

Home is where.....

Warren St., Charleston, S.C.
I am pleased to see that one of my favorite houses is being renovated. There is something friendly looking about this house and I've been sad to see it sit empty for years. In honor of it's renovation I looked up some "home" quotes for us:
“The best way to keep children at home is to make the home atmosphere pleasant, and let the air out of the tires.”
Dorothy Parker
Ninety-eight percent of American homes have TV sets, which means the people in the other 2% have to generate their own sex and violence.”
Franklin P. Jones
“When you're safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you're having an adventure you wish you were safe at home”
Thornton Wilder
“Home is where you hang your head”
Groucho Marx
“Home is where you can say anything you please, because nobody pays any attention to you anyway”
Joe Moore
....and finally I was startled to see this one by Mel Gibson, movie star and gift to all women, included:
“A woman should be home with the children, building that home and making sure there's a secure family atmosphere”
Mel Gibson
Well! I hope everyone has had a good weekend. It has poured rain in Charleston and intersections were still flooded when I went for a short late walk. Time to settle in for the evening and watch Mad Men.
