St. Philip St. redevelopment

St. Philip St., Charleston, S.C.
Check out this redevelopment of the old Masonic Lodge on St. Philip St.  The ad says it has 26 private bedrooms. This is the old real estate ad. Too bad it will be filled with college kids. Throw in a central dining room and a live in chef and I'd move in!  I'll have to track down a pre-renovation view. I am sure I have one in an old album.

Before I Die

Before I Die, St. Philips St., Charleston, S.C.
What is on your bucket list? The Before I Die project at Redux Studio invites you to add your goals to their list in chalk.
Redux Contemporary Art Center is proud to present, Before I Die…, the 6th mural to go on the facade of the building. This project was organized by Nicole Diefenbach and inspired by Candy Chang’s Before I Die… project in New Orleans. We will transform the side of the Redux building into a giant chalkboard wall. The community is encouraged to visit Redux any time of the day and write their dreams and aspirations in chalk. Before I Die… is an interactive public art project where we can discover the ambitions of the people around us.
The mural will be unveiled at the end of Redux’s 2nd Annual Professional Development Day, lead by visiting artist Susan kae Grant. This informational and inspiring workshop focuses on seven strategies that Grant believes are crucial for preparing yourself for a successful and satisfying career as an artist. At the completion of the workshop, participants will have the first opportunity to write their goals on the blank chalkboard.

Surfing on St. Philip St.

St. Philip St., Charleston, S.C.

Blogger was out of commission last night. For awhile a couple of entries went missing but things seem to be back in order for the moment.

It's Friday kids! My sweet, sweet Friday. I've already seen a movie at the Terrace Theater, eaten a bowl of portobello mushroom linguine at Mustard Seed and I am debating a walk. Whatcha all got up your sleeves for the weekend?

Bella Mafia

Who wants to join my Bella Mafia?

I was carrying the flowers home from Harris Teeter and thought they made the perfect touch to the sidewalk inscription.

Before & After - St. Philip St.

St. Philip St., Charleston, S.C.

Can it be Monday already? The best weekends slip away too fast and this was a perfect one. Everyone was out enjoying the sunshine. Marion Square was filled with students laying on the grass enjoying the nice weather.

I finally got inside the renovated Dock St. theater to see Blue on Sunday afternoon (thanks Debby!) and then ended the weekend with good friends at the best table in the house at McCrady's. My friend Andre' recently retired as General Manager so it was like old home week and we were treated like royalty. Royalty at McCrady's gets treated pretty well! Yum.

This evening's photo is a Before & After scene on St. Philip St. For a long time there was a facade barely propped up. Now, suddenly there is a whole new house there.
