Dining Out for Life

Oh Valentino! Charleston, SC
Today was Dining Out for Life day and many restaurants participated giving a significant percentage of profits from dinners served to the Ryan White program. I always mean to coordinate a dinner party for the cause but some how get tangled up in other events. This evening I was hosting 30 teenagers at the Mount Pleasant Hospital who wanted to learn about birthin' babies.

I didn't miss out entirely since we had a food truck rodeo for the cause at work today and diners were entertained by Oh Valentino. Aaron and Christina O'Brien set up and played for us under the oak trees on the hospital campus. The weather was perfect, the food was tasty, the company was good and the music was lovely. Can't beat that!

AIDS Walk Charleston

Roller Derby skaters at the AIDS Walk
I got up on this crisp and windy morning and stopped by Hampton Park for the AIDS Walk sponsored by the Ryan White Program. Goodness! It was chilly out. People needed to walk two miles just to warm up.

Check out the Roller Derby gals. They whipped around the park in no time flat. Have any of y'all gone to the Roller Derby event? They have one more in November when I am away and then begin in February again. I think it might be a hoot.

Thanks to all the brave souls who got out to support the Ryan White program today. More photos here.

AIDS Walk - Hampton Park

AIDS Walk, Hampton Park, Charleston, S.C.

I like uploading and posting pictures while the event is still going on and this time it probably is! I went early to catch them setting up for the AIDS Walk at Hampton Park.

They had a silent auction, vendor tables, kids activities etc. but as always lately the adorable dogs stole the show. What would happen if we simply had a "Dog Walk"?

More photos uploading here: AIDS Walk 2009, Congratulations to Ashley Redmond and her gang at the Ryan White Program for throwing a successful first event.
