Fog Walking - Magnolia Plantation

Picnic Tables, Magnolia Plantation, Charleston, SC
I was to help with a neighborhood clean up this morning but checking my phone from bed I learned it was cancelled due to the rain and fog. Fog! That got me up from my lazy bed and out to Magnolia Gardens for a walk in the mist. I wandered through the camellia garden and climbed the observation tower. Not a bad way to celebrate my birthday.

Fogscape Charleston

Broad St., Charleston, SC
Fog does funny things to camera buffs. I was tortured by the choice of places to go in this morning's mist. Magnolia Cemetery, beach, downtown? I settled on the peninsula because I've been tardy this year in capturing Charleston's Christmas festive wear. I made the right decision. Each corner I turned I got more excited with the scene.  What a beautiful city we live in.

Home to a refrigerator full of tasty holiday left-overs just the way I like it. I settled in with Moroccan chicken, roasted cauliflower and the Call the Midwife Holiday special.

Fog rolls in

Colonial Lake, Charleston, S.C.
It's been an odd weather day in the lowcountry. Foggy, warm and humid this morning and then thundershowers this evening. Still better than the cold the rest of the country is experiencing so I am not complaining. Check out below - our solitary attempt at a high rise, the Francis Marion Hotel is fading into the mist.

It was the right day to make white bean chicken chili in the crock-pot and watch a movie. I had Little Miss Sunshine recorded but for some reason the sounds wasn't synched with the picture so the right words came from the wrong person which gave an odd effect to the entire movie but I couldn't turn it off.

Foggy mornings

Foggy morning in Charleston, S.C.
These foggy mornings have all of us reaching for our cameras. The fog had almost lifted by the time I got West Ashley but this is from my walk across the parking lot to the hospital. Our garden with it's giant oak trees is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I have ginger snaps in the oven and it's smelling pretty good in here!

Fog in the Garden

Charleston, S.C.

John Prince asked in comments if I'd taken any fog pictures. He likely asked the question as I detoured through the hospital's meditation garden on my way in to work this morning. How lucky am I to work in a place like this?

Today is Volunteer Program Manager's Day. You didn't hear about it because we don't blow our own horns. We celebrated privately and took care of ourselves....volunteer managers from hospitals, aquariums, parks, outreach missions, food banks and senior centers...hundreds of thousands of hours of service flow through us in this town alone. So cheers to me and my hard working partners! Happy Volunteer Program Manager's Day!
