Cold meets hot

Northbridge Park, Charleston, S.C.
The cold rain and wind is causing an uproar as it hits our warm waters. The Ashley River and Charleston Harbor look like a witches brew and after the lovely day we had yesterday it is cold out there! I stopped at the new Northbridge Park under the bridge to grab a few shots. Brrrr.

Blue skies and sunshine

Ashley River, Charleston, S.C.
It is much too pretty to be cooped up working inside this week. I had a volunteer recognition event at the Charleston Rifle Club and as I do each year after this luncheon, I walked down the long dock to sniff the river before I headed back to the hospital. Not such a bad mid day break.

Swing with a view

Playground, Brittlebank Park, Charleston, S.C.
You could swing for hours here overlooking the Ashley River and for a few minutes I caught it without children on it. I helped build this playground many years ago with Dr. Rick Reed. It is a park partially designed so kids in wheelchairs can play along and it has elevated ramps for wheelchairs.

The playground looks like it is holding up pretty well. I didn't want to scare parents by taking pictures of the rest of the play area with the kiddies playing. Carry on children. Crazy camera lady has moved on.

Walking Wagener Terrace

Ashley River, Charleston, S.C.
How sweetly framed this scene is. I meant to walk the new Shem Creek boardwalk this morning but the Ravenel Bridge was closed when I headed that way so I zipped around and walked the Hampton Park neighborhood. There are so many sweet little cottages in that area.

I happened by Havens Blanton's yard sale and was offered a mimosa. I know that alcohol is required to loosen the bidding on silent auctions but yard sales and mimosas? Brilliant! :) Check out Haven's site for recipes and design ideas.

View of the Ashley River

Ashley River, Charleston, S.C.

Yesterday was the kind of day that makes lowcountry men without boats hurt deep inside when they cross the river. I need to keep a tissue handy. The sky was blue, the clouds billowy and the water still as a mirror waiting for a boat to make a ripple. I'm surprised there aren't more accidents on bridges.

I have a bad habit lately of coming home after a busy day, crashing with my dinner, being completely lazy until just before 9 p.m. and then I am refreshed and in the mood for a three mile hike.

Now, completely unrelated to anything except for the fact that both you and I like these kinds of things: Awesome people hanging together. Some of them are quite unexpected!
