An Inn with a view

Charleston over the Ashley River, SC
I love the view of Charleston from the Riverview Holiday Inn and today was especially crisp and bright even through the restaurant's windows. I had an after work get together with hospital volunteer managers from across the state and we had a grand old time comparing notes.  Although it isn't right on the peninsula I learned that they offer quick running shuttles back and forth.

Okay kids. Y'all behave. I'll be in meetings all day tomorrow but it will be Friday!

Ashley River

Ashley River, Charleston, S.C.
As the name suggests, West Ashley is just across the Ashley River from the Charleston peninsula but unfortunately it isn't a pleasant trip by foot or bicycle. To take the pictures of the paddle board race yesterday I parked at the Holiday Inn, took my life in my hands to get across the street to get to the narrow sidewalk on the bridge. I had to stay alert for any bikes trying to share the space. It's too bad since so many people live close to the river and could take advantage of walking to things on either side.

I took the shot below looking down into the marsh. Someone had been enjoying a read by the side of the river. I've had some fun trying to guess what the book was. It is right next to the area under the bridge and may well belong to a street person who has found a hideaway spot.

Bridge Walking - Charleston

Ashley River Bridge, Charleston, S.C.
I walked the bridge this morning. Yep. All the way over and back. No. Not that bridge. Fitness buffs hike and bike the Cooper River Bridge but I dodged traffic on the shorter less elevated bridge over the Ashley River. It has a lovely view of the marina and the Dragonboat festivities and I spied someone's secret picnic table below.
