Run West Ashley, Run!

West Ashley Greenway, Charleston, SC 

The Avondale 5K was held this morning but instead of running past my house, they directed the runners to a section of the West Ashley Bikeway. I hope the stretches of uneven pavement and root systems weren't a problem because it was a lovely scene seeing them come out of the woods. Congrats to all! 

A healthy start to the weekend

The Avondale 5K ran right past my house this morning. I didn't even have to walk to the run to grab a shot. I believe they took care of my exercise obligations for the weekend. Thanks team!

After the week we have had, walking down to the Avondale 5K felt oddly normal even if I kept catching myself looking for high water marks on the houses in the neighborhood. They had a great crowd of runners, walkers, strollers and dogs and I extended my walk through the consignment and grocery store while they caught up on their serious beer drinking. Thanks to all the organizers and sponsors!
