What is this carcass? |
This evening we have a new game of "can you identify this carcass?". It isn't really a game but I am puzzled. I was up around Lake Marion last night and found this on my bike ride this morning. I stood there scratching my head. There are no limbs or wings and it was the size of a small deer. What the heck is it?
I googled deer skeleton and it could be that. The head has an elongated jaw line. Your days are always interesting!

I posted the image on facebook and it started quite a discussion. It was determined to be a deer skeleton. I was looking at it backwards. What I thought was the head is the pelvis. The head is missing entirely. Another mystery solved!
DeleteI was going to say that, about the head/pelvis thing. The next guess (if it wasn't a deer) would be a large dog, like a Greyhound or something similarly thin. As deer is a prey animal, it makes more sense. Happy St. Patty's Day! (At least the grass around the bones is green, ha!)
ReplyDeleteI love to learn something new each day. Thank you! Have a great St. Patrick's Day.

Too funny. Here I thought I was taking a close up of the head and it was the pelvis. I hope I do better with human bodies than animals :)
