Dear Decorating Advisors

Silver Chest #1
Okay then kids - I need your advice. I've moved from a house built in 1840 with high ceilings to a little cinder block ranch house built in 1950. I had to actually dump large pieces of furniture at consignment stores along the way on moving day. Now I need some lighter fun pieces and have in my mind that I need a silver painted or mirrored chest for my living room.

This is the selection I can find. What do you think? Which one do you like best? Let me know in comments which one strikes your fancy.

    I agree...#1...it fits better with mid-century.

  3. Thanks gentlemen. I am getting responses on FB as well. I think all but #2 and #3 have been mentioned.

  4. #1 or #5 .... they are classic, but modern. Love them all, but 1 & 5 are tops in my opinion! :)

  5. I like #5. Don't know why.

  6. Initially I thought #1, but I think it's too contemporary. Clean lines yes, but too modern. I like #3 because it has a traditional look, but it is still simple and uncluttered. Clean yet curved lines. Would go well in a traditional or modern setting.

  9. Hmmm...found some reviews for #1 that says the mirrored finish cracks easily. Keep the suggestions coming! I am swaying to #5.

  10. If the mirrored finish cracks on 1 I'd go with 5. It also depends if you need a cabinet or drawers, but if either is equal, 5 is really lovely!! (Of course the nice cocktail selection on top might be prejudicing my vote ;-).

hmmmm, definitely #1 but... cracks... boo... #5 i guess would be the next choice, but it's very different, (shelves instead of drawers, taller instead of wider, I guess it depends on the spot you need it for... ?
You're right, this IS fun! Good luck Joan!

  12. #5 if your decor is kind of fancy. If more simple, then #1. (I prefer #5.)

    1. Not fancy but I am swaying towards #5. I think it is actually less fancy that the mirror.

  13. Y'all are just great! Too bad I couldn't invite you all over to help me decide! Thanks much. Now I balance the preferences with the paycheck :). I don't want anything glossy mirror finish that would show every fingerprint or something that will break too easy. I'll let you know what I decide. It has been fun needing to shop a bit!

    1. Yeah! #5! I don't want anything too mirror shiny that will leave fingerprints every time you touch it. Also don't want one that will crack and scratch too easily. This is fun!
