I didn't think I should bang on tenants doors at 2 a.m. so I finally sent them an email asking them to let me know of anything unusual and I tried to get some sleep. Luckily "downstairs" was still up shortly afterwards emailed back that his toiled needed to be adjusted and he took care of it. Yawn. Much better than an exploding water tank overhead.
I did chores around the house today and got a bee in my bonnet to freshen up the old bathroom vanity and mirror. I can never find my painting clothes and always decide that "this time I will paint neatly" and I wear my regular clothes inside out to protect them against splatters. Then it never fails that I have to go to the bathroom and I'm trapped inside clothes that are buttoned inside out. I go through this routine on a regular basis. :)) Sad, I know. If I could just learn a lesson or two as I go through life it would all be so much easier.
I need to put on one more coat of paint but will leave that for tomorrow so I can do the whole ritual again. Maybe I can go to the bathroom before I start and work quickly.
While homeownership is perfect for some, like families with kids, at my age I don't want anything to do with that kind of "joy". I find "joy" in firing off an email to maintanence if anything is in need of repair. ;)

And I want to be you. I've had enough of this but homes like mine are not moving for the time being. Someday. Soon I hope.
ReplyDeletethe photograph, fabulous; the image of you painting in your inside-out clothes, hilarious; the inconvenient call of nature, all too familiar.
ReplyDeleteThat window! It's not on someone's private home, is it? Please tell me it's a church window, or a window on a museum or something, so I don't die of complete and utter jealousy. 8-)
ReplyDeleteThe only time I've ever heard of turning one's clothes inside out is my husband's grandparents used to do that when they were driving and got lost. They'd stop the car, take off a sweater or jacket or shirt and turn it inside out, then get back in the car. The evil spirits causing all the erroneous turns were supposed to be so busy with the puzzle of inside out clothing that they'd forget to muddle the driver's sense of direction.

Marcheline's superstition story is most unusual. The window is fantastic and I'd love to own it!
ReplyDeleteIt is a house - the lower part. We don't have basements here.
ReplyDeleteI love the inside out clothes story. It will make painting more fun for me now. No one ever knows is my regular outfits are paint splattered on the inside!
