Edisto River, S.C.
I didn't do it myself but it looked so much fun I wished I had! The P & C
reported on the increased number of people floating down the Edisto River and they anticipated huge crowds on July 4th.
I don't know if they had any trouble but I saw a lot of people having a grand time. I'm guessing there were some impressive sunburns and hangovers to deal with the next day.
Looks so refreshing... especially what looks to be a 'kiddie' pool floating gently along...
ReplyDeleteMadge - I know! Isn't that crazy? I also liked the fellow doing the beer cooler run, walking through the water.
ReplyDeleteMy friends have done this before - twice - but I've opted out of it both times. I'm a little too creeped out by the thought of snakes and other critters...lol. I think I'll stick to sandy beaches instead. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of a great time. Looks like lots of fun! Some of the rafts are quite creative.
ReplyDeleteI've canoed down the Edisto years ago but have never done the float thing. They all tie themselves together and have an extra float for the food.
ReplyDeleteUsed to do that on the Tangipahoa River in Louisiana, where I spent the hottest summer of my life. It is a wonderful treat. Re: critters, the wildest life on the river seems to be the people!

The only thing I think of when people talk about floating on the Edisto is snakes and gators. No thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI am not one to turn down time in the water, I may have been a fish in my former life, but doesn't the Edisto have an alligator population?
