This hole in the ground used to be our downtown library. It will be a hotel and will be a big change for the area. I am looking forward to having something lively there after having a closed building and construction site for so long. I go up in the Francis Marion parking garage to keep an eye on the progress.
One hopes the old library has just moved into new digs.

DeleteI agree with William Kendall. It's never a good thing to lose a library.
ReplyDeleteWe are still building libraries and still debating how they should be used. Tricky thing now with so many people using digital media. I used to love libraries but rarely go now. I even download my books from the library for free.
DeleteThere is a new library, and a very nice one it is, just down the street.
ReplyDeleteI really missed it when this one closed because I lived a few blocks from it. It was in my quick walking range and I would carry home armfuls of books.
