Somewhere over the rainbow

Caw Caw Park, S.C.
I caught a fallen rainbow on a recent walk at Cawcaw Park in Ravenel. It is mostly a walking trail park with six miles of trails over former rice fields and a boardwalk through the swamp. I almost wish I had dog-napped my neighbor's dog for a walk through the woods. Caw Caw is one of the county parks and admission is a painless $1. The play of the light on the swamp was the most impressive thing. Magic!

  1. So did you find the pot gold at the end of the rainbow?

  3. Stared at those photos for a long time and still cannot figure out what's doing it. Is the sunlight reflecting off something into that water? Is there oil of some sort in the water? What in the world would make that happen? A rainbow in the air is one thing... I know what that is. I've never seen anything like this before. What's affecting the light reflection? It's got to be something in the water, yes? Or did you just try out a new lens on us and not tell? Come on, Joan... fess up!

  5. The price is the bargain of the century. We have taken our dog there but the last time we were told "no dogs". It may have just been a misinformed person but we were disappointed.

  6. It is the tannin in the water from the decomposing cypress leaves. It was mid afternoon light reflecting off the surface of the water. I just learned that from their web site :). A couple of us took very similar shots that day.
