John C. Calhoun, Marion Square, Charleston, S.C. |
Happy me! There is finally work being done on the building at Calhoun & King. It s one of the busiest corners in town and has been an empty eyesore for years. It is going to make so much difference when it is done and there is a hotel where the old library used to be. Progress is better than an abandoned shell.
Okay, kids. I just rowed across my living room for half an hour. Time to hit the recliner. I've been watching Top of the Lake. When you stream an entire season of a show on Netflix, it is like eating candy, you keep sneaking in just one more episode.
The blossoms look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThings are starting to pop around here. It was chilly last night but usually March turns us into a garden.
DeleteThat's wild - the statue walking on tops of trees.... and we just finished watching "Top of the Lake" - it's GREAT! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI think I only have one more to watch...hate to see a good series end and yet I charge through them.
DeleteI've never heard of Top of the Lake. Perhaps I should investigate.
ReplyDeleteIt is set in New Zealand. That is almost as interesting as the story line.
DeleteIs that a tabebuia tree that John C. Calhoun is hanging out in?
ReplyDeleteIsn't it exciting when work is being done on a building? Whenever that happens around here, my husband and I have a contest as to who can find out faster what's going into the building. We're always very disappointed when it's an auto parts store. Or a bank.
Right...and then I thump my forehead for not taking a good picture of the "before" shot.
DeleteThat year of construction we walked down King Street many times during our visit. We Discovered a Greek Sandwich shop Pita something or other which is closed, gone I suppose, as the construction corridor was enough to scare away customers. But that restaurant's Lemon Chicken Soup was well remembered. I think they have another location not downtown. Anyway we we sorry to see the empty storefront when we returned later that year in the fall. Normandy Farms was a bright spot that warm day. The iced coffee hit the spot and then discovering the bench in tranquil garden area at the Dock Street Theater was a welcome respite. So many interesting interiors, The Charleston Library Society sells canvas book totes I much rather purchase a tote bag then an unflattering T-shirt from someplace as a souvenir.
