Folly Beach boat, Folly Rd., S.C. |
It is the public bulletin board on the side of the road heading to Folly Beach. The abandoned
boat washed up by hurricane Hugo winds has been painted so many times I am sure it is the paint that is holding it together. The boat is fair game and anyone can paint it. Artists need to take a quick picture of their work because another car full of aspiring artists can pull right up behind them and paint right over it.
I kinda hope this lasts through the weekend, don't you?

Holy Cow...it looks like these folks have almost every painting ever done on the boat:

That is SO cool! In my town, it would most likely bear rude sayings, but... I still love the idea of an open graffiti zone. It would be cool if someone proposed to his girl that way, driving past the old boat with "MARRY ME KATE" painted on the side! So long as her name is Kate, of course.
ReplyDeleteInteresting - I have never seen obscenities on it. Lots of anniversaries, memorials, proposals and tributes. I wonder why? We aren't that well behaved here even if we do win the Best Manners award regularly.
DeleteThat's pretty cool ...here they call it graffiti :(
ReplyDeleteIt is graffiti but in this case it is allowed. I even painted it once.
DeleteWhat did you paint on it, Joan? Of course you took a picture of it, right? Let's see it! 8-)
DeleteHa! I did it as a favor for a friend who took over the little Island Newspaper at the time. It was called Island Life so I did a beachy scene with the light house and palm trees. I thought it was pretty good. I ended up painting it by myself when my sidekick didn't show up. I am not sure I have a good photo of it although it was featured in the newspaper.
