Governor's Mansion, Columbia, S.C. |
Waaaaa....I have a mess of poison ivy. Poor, poor pitiful me. I moved a tv into the bathroom and played one of the Doc Martin DVDs while I took a long soak to keep myself from scratching my skin off. Wish me luck. I keep telling myself, "at least it isn't smallpox."
Today's picture is not from Charleston but was taken at the Governor's Mansion in Columbia. What beautiful delicate iron work.
Those gates are hard to photograph well, but you did a great job. The Gov's digs look mighty nice.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful gates. Thanks Kate!
DeleteSometimes, after a particularly nasty bout, I think poison ivy is almost as bad as smallpox.
ReplyDeleteThe governor's mansion isn't too bad, is it? It seems to hold up nicely no matter who we've chosen to live there.
Growing up in India I had a terrible fear of smallpox. It was still an active disease then and lots of people still had the scars to prove it. I bet I have the world's record for smallpox vaccinations. I lined up every year to get one.
DeleteThe Governor's mansion is a lovely spot.
Nice gate. A couple of years ago I actually SAT in poison ivy trying to get a shot. No need to say I had an uncomfortable few days. I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteBarbara - that is awful! Poor you! Mine is on my arms and chest and is creeping up my neck to my chin. I am sitting here with an ice pack on :)
DeletePoor thing! Better than smallpox, true, but still not as nice as a good book and a glass of wine, eh? May your rash heal quickly and may your memory of where the poison ivy grows never fade.
ReplyDeleteIt sucks. Grrrr. I have been soaking in a tub of salty water up to my chin in the evenings. I drag a chair with a dvd player on it and have been watching Doc Martin episodes. They will always be associated with poison ivy from now on. :)
DeleteI had a horrible bout of poison ivy a couple of Summers ago and I bought some stuff called Zanfel and it was wonderful! Expensive but wonderful! it let me *itch* with it and still didn't take my poor skin off with it. I hope you never get it again !
ReplyDeleteIron gates very strong, safely but no less artistic. Please refresh your home with a collection of our iron gate in: cua cong sat my nghe
