Red star flower, Charleston, S.C. |
I don't even know what they are called. These dainty little red star flowers grow winding around the fences and gates in Charleston. The green vine is so delicate and the flowers are eye catching.
Who knows what it is called?
I hope that someone can identify it; it looks like a star.
ReplyDeleteIpomoea quamoclit or hummingbird vine, cardinal vine, or cypress vine.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike! I like hummingbird vine.
ReplyDeleteCypress vine is the most common name. We have them in red, pink, and white. Hummingbirds love them so much!
ReplyDeleteYou should gather seeds from those vines.
I should get seeds. I stop and admire the plant often enough.
DeleteI call it a lovely weed.
ReplyDeleteGood name for it!
DeleteIt's marvelous!
ReplyDeleteI agree.
