Rescue Buddha, Charleston, S.C. |
The gentlemen in our Maintenance Engineering department found him tossed in the woods on the hospital campus so in a way he is a Rescue Buddha. I thought I'd post a photo before I bring him home to settle in my backyard in case he is missing from an area restaurant. Anyone recognize him?
We thought about putting a nurse's hat on him and let him pop up unexpectedly at random Nurses Stations during the night. Heheh.
Yes! Give him a new, happy home with you.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be back in Charleston next February and March. Can I come over and rub his belly?
ReplyDeleteIf no one claims him I will probably put him in my backyard. The birds will enjoy him :)
ReplyDeleteMake sure you give him a belly rub!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll be the dork that lets you know that Buddha is a thin guy. This jolly fellow here is Budai, sometimes known as Hotei.
ReplyDeleteA-la Wikipedia, "Budai (Chinese: 布袋; pinyin: Bùdài), or Hotei in Japanese,[1] Bố Đại in Vietnamese, is a Chinese folkloric deity. His name means "Cloth Sack,"[1][2] and comes from the bag that he is conventionally depicted as carrying. He is usually identified with (or as an incarnation of) Maitreya, so much so that the Budai image is one of the main forms in which Maitreya is depicted in East Asia.[2] He is almost always shown smiling or laughing, hence his nickname in Chinese, the Laughing Buddha (Chinese: 笑佛).[1][3] Many Westerners confuse Budai with Gautama Buddha."
He's amazingly cool!
Marcheline - that makes sense. This happy fella doesn't fit the Gautama Buddha profile. Thanks!
